2020 Honda Ridgeline Changes, Redesign, Hybrid

Considering the usual production cycle of models from this Japanese manufacturer, it seems very likely to see 2020 Honda Ridgeline with big updates. The current, second-generation model came two years ago, in mid-2016, so fourth year-model is about to bring various novelties. Most likely, this will be a classic mid-cycle refresh, which will bring several novelties in terms of styling. We should also see some tweaks to the interior, as well as new technologies and other standard features.

Moreover, it looks like we are going to see some novelties under the hood. Electrified powertrains are taking over the market, so it’s no wonder that 2020 Ridgeline should also come with a hybrid powertrain. Most likely, we will see the same system as in the new Accord Hybrid, which promises amazing mpg ratings. Expect to see the updated model sometime in the second half of year.

2020 Honda Ridgeline Changes

The 2020 Honda Ridgeline should come with a variety of changes. This will be a classic mid-cycle update, which is about to bring various kinds of novelties. Of course, base design characteristics will remain the same. The new model will continue to ride on the same car-like unibody platform, offering superior comfort compared to other trucks in the class. On the other side, towing capabilities will continue to be the model’s weakest point. Anyway, these updates are mostly about visual changes and this one shouldn’t be an exception. We are about to see a familiar overall shape, but with numerous new details. Of course, the front end is an area that will suffer most. Expect to see tweaks to headlights, grille, front fascia, bumper and other similar things that are usual for these kinds of updates.

The rear end should also suffer, though it won’t bring so significant changes. We could see some rework on the bumper and taillights, as well as on the tailgate. Finally, expect to see new wheels in the offer, as well as some new colors.

2020 Honda Ridgeline Interior

The cabin of this pickup truck shouldn’t change drastically. Honda usually doesn’t make significant changes on the inside between redesigns. We should see a familiar cabin layout, with minor tweaks to the dashboard only. Of course, new color schemes are another possible novelty. On the other side, the list of standard equipment should be expanded for each trim level.

Speaking of trim levels, the base organization will remain the same. We will see six familiar trim levels in the offer for 2020 Honda Ridgeline. Those are RT, Sport, RTL, RTL-T, RTL-E and Black Limited. Each version should get a few new standard features. For example, the base RT could finally get a touchscreen interface.

2020 Honda Ridgeline Safety

The current model already comes with a generous offer of active safety systems, so we don’t expect bigger changes in this aspect. While the base model comes with a rearview camera only, higher trims include plenty of other safety features. The 2020 Honda Ridgeline should continue in the same way. There are systems like blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, LaneWatch etc. Of course, there is a familiar Honda Sense package, with systems like adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation braking, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, lane keep assist, road departure mitigation and much more.

2020 Honda Ridgeline Hybrid

One of the most important novelty for the 2020 Honda Ridgeline should be a new hybrid powertrain. At the moment, this truck comes with a large V6 engine in the offer only. This update should bring an electrified powertrain, the same we can find in the new Accord Hybrid, which delivers a combined output of 212 horsepower. This won’t be a very capable version of 2020 Ridgeline, considering total power, but fuel economy should be spectacular for the segment.

On the other side, a familiar V6 unit should continue in the same way. This 3.5-liter engine has a max power of 280 horsepower and it is one of the most reliable units in the class. It also features quite decent fuel economy, which goes around 19 mpg in the city and 26 on the highway. It comes in pair with a 6-speed automatic transmission. With this engine, the Ridgeline can tow up to 5.000 pounds.

Some reports also suggest an introduction of a new turbo inline-four engine for this update. It should be the company’s new 2.0-liter engine, which is good for about 250 horsepower and which is characterized by excellent efficiency. Still, take this information with a dose of a reserve.

2020 Honda Ridgeline Release Date and Price

The 2020 Honda Ridgeline will probably come sometime in the second half of 2019. We don’t expect bigger changes in price, compared to the current model, which goes in a range between 30.000 and 43.000 dollars, roughly. Competition in the segment is quite tough, though the Ridgeline is the only car-based pickup truck. Models like Chevy Colorado, Toyota Tacoma, Nissan Frontier and others use a classic body-on-frame platform.
