Despite the recent arrival, the 2020 Honda Accord is about to come up with some interesting updates, according to the latest reports. Currently, in the tenth generation, the famous mid-size sedan has been around for decades. It has established its position as one of the best mid-size cars on the market.
The current model came a year ago. It has brought a lot of novelties, such as completely new styling, architecture, interior design and new technologies. One of the biggest changes is an introduction of new turbo engines, characterized by excellent efficiency. Considering all these changes, it would be hard to expect anything more significant in the third year of production. However, the company’s management thinks different. It looks like we are about to see an update, which will bring several novelties, maybe even a new body style. Expect to see 2020 Accord in the second half of next year.
2020 Honda Accord Changes
According to some reports, the 2020 Honda Accord will already come with some changes. Few reliable sources suggest a mild update in terms of styling. This should bring a few tweaks to the front end, primarily at the front fascia. On the other side, areas like headlights and grille. Bumpers could also get some reshaping, but that should be minor. Rest of the car will remain the same. We will see the same overall shape, through the addition of new color options is quite possible. In terms of mechanics, the 2020 Honda Accord will continue in the same way.
Finally, some reports suggest a revival of the Accord Coupe. This version has been available for a long time through the Accord’s history, including the previous-generation model. We can expect a classic coupe body style, which will accentuate the car’s sporty character even more. A two-door layout may make this version a little bit shorter, but we don’t expect changes on wheelbase. On the inside, the new coupe should feature the same cabin design.
2020 Honda Accord Interior
On the inside, we don’t expect bigger changes for the 2020 Honda Accord. This sedan comes with a pretty upscale, characterized by hi-quality, soft-touch materials. This sedan accommodates up to five passengers and offers plenty of legroom, as well as generous cargo space. Another important thing to mention is that isolation is great, so the car is quiet even at high speeds. This update shouldn’t bring anything more important, though some changes in terms of standard features and new color schemes are possible.
2020 Honda Accord Trim Levels
The base equipment organization should remain the same. On the other side, each trim level could get a few novelties. In the current model, you can choose between five trim levels – LX, Sport, EX, EX-L and Touring.
Even the base LX models come with a pretty long list of standard equipment. It includes18-inch wheels, LED headlights, automatic high beams, dual-zone climate control, rearview camera etc. In terms of tech features, you can count on a 7-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, USB ports and a four-speaker audio system. Even safety features are numerous, so you get some advanced systems like lane departure warning and intervention, adaptive cruise control, and forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking.
The Sport trim adds several interesting things. The first thing you’ll notice is a visual enhancement. There are bigger 19-inch wheels, chrome exhaust tips, rear spoiler etc. On the inside, count on a leather-wrapped steering wheel, power-adjustable front seats and much more.
A mid-range EX trim seems like a value choice. It includes pretty much all features from the sports trim but also adds things like heated mirrors, a sunroof, keyless entry and ignition, satellite radio, blind-spot monitoring, heated seats etc.
The EX-L is a bit of an upgrade. With this one, you can count on things like leather upholstery, driver memory settings, 10-speaker audio system, navigation and much more.
Finally, there a top-range Touring trim. With this one, you can count on adaptive suspension, plenty of chrome details, head-up display, ventilated seats, automatic wipers, parking sensors and much more.
2020 Honda Accord Engines
The 2020 Honda Accord will be relying on the same turbo engines. The base model comes with a 1.5-liter unit, which is good for about 192 horsepower.
An optional 2.0-liter engine came as a replacement for the large V6 and it offers superior efficiency. A total output goes around 252 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of max torque.
Finally, there is a hybrid version, which features combined output of 212 horsepower, as well as more impressive mpg ratings, which go up to 47 miles per gallon.
2020 Honda Accord Release Date and Price
We expect to see 2020 Honda Accord sometime in the second half of the next year. The price shouldn’t change too much, so the base model should go around 23.500 dollars. If you decide on a hybrid powertrain, it will cost you a few thousands more.
When it comes to the competition, the Accord’s biggest rival is Toyota Camry. Also, there are other quality mid-size sedans, like the Hyundai Sonata, Mazda 6, Ford Fusion, Chevy Malibu etc.
