The iconic Honda Accord has been around since 1976 and for all these years, it gained a reputation of one of the best family cars around, known for a comfortable ride, excellent performances and impressive reliability. So far, we’ve seen ten generations of it in North America. The current one has been around for just a couple of years. Therefore, it would be hard to expect a facelift or something like that for the next year. On the other side, we might see a coupe version once again. This model would come as the 2021 Honda Accord Coupe, if the Japanese manufacturer is really about to launch this model once again.
This is just a rumor for not. The company is still quiet about the new coupe iteration of this legend. The current generation is currently available in a 4-door sedan version only and it still sells pretty well, despite that crossovers dominate the market. Still, we believe that the launch of such a version would definitely have a positive impact on overall sales.
2021 Honda Accord Coupe Redesign
When it comes to base design characteristics, we wouldn’t expect any particular changes. This includes mechanics, wheelbase and all other things, including powertrain. Still, the overall design would be significantly different, as the 2021 Honda Accord Coupe would come in a completely different layout.
While the front end would probably remain the same, the rest of the car would be completely different. From the side, the new version would feature a typical coupe profile, with two doors, a sloping roof and all other things that characterize this body style. Also, there is a big chance to see a completely new rear end, with new taillights, sportier bumper and similar things.
Some sources even suggest a four-door coupe version. This one would keep the same number of doors as the sedan, but with a completely different rear end. Still, if we consider that the current sedan version already features a little bit of a sloping roof, we think that the possibilities to see such a version are minimal.
When it comes to interior design, the most obvious difference would be in terms of space. While the front row would be as spacious as in the sedan, the rear seats would be characterized by less leg and particularly headroom. Of course, the cargo area would suffer as well.
On the other side, the dashboard would probably look just the same. There is always room for some exclusive details, but the overall layout will certainly remain the same. This means you may count on one of the best looking dashboards in the class, characterized by fine materials, attractive shapes and great overall build quality. Additionally, loads of tech goodies make everything look even more opulent.
The base version of the sedan version comes with standard tech features such as a 7-inch infotainment display, Bluetooth, a USB port, and a four-speaker stereo. The coupe version would definitely be a more upscale version, so the list of standard features would be longer. Therefore, some of the optional features may become standard. Some of the potential candidates are a bigger 8-inch touchscreen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and a Wi-Fi hot spot. Furthermore, count wireless device charging, navigation, more USB ports, satellite radio, HD Radio, an eight- or 10-speaker sound system, and a moonroof.
On the other side, we don’t expect that things will be much different compared to the sedan version. Therefore, base models would come standard with goodies like a rearview camera, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, traffic sign recognition, and a road departure mitigation system.
2021 Honda Accord Coupe Engine
When it comes to the powertrain, the base sedan version comes with a 1.5-liter turbo-four, which puts out 192 horsepower. However, we are pretty much sure that the 2021 Honda Accord Coupe would come with a more potent engine in the offer only. Of course, we are talking about a 2.0-liter turbo-four, which puts out 252 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. It doesn’t look spectacular on paper, but this engine actually offers pretty amazing acceleration and dynamics. The engine likes to rev and it’s a real pleasure to play with it. Also, the 10-speed automatic transmission works very well.
The engine is also pretty amazing in terms of fuel economy. So, we don’t expect bigger differences in the coupe version. Therefore, you may count on about 22 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway.
2021 Honda Accord Coupe Release Date and Price
The 2021 Honda Accord Coupe is still just a rumor but some sources we could see it on the market already in the next year. When it comes to the price, we presume base models will go around 32/33.000 dollars.
