2020 Honda Odyssey Minivan with Hybrid Engine

The minivan market is not offering too many choices. Few models are better than others. One of them is going to be 2020 Honda Odyssey. With the new technology and features, it will try to defend its segment from the upcoming threat caused by the rise of crossovers’ popularity. Minivans are still holding off, but the gap between these two segments is becoming closer every day.

Crossovers are versatile. They are more powerful, safer. On the other hand, 2020 Honda Odyssey will be the multi-purpose vehicle. But, it can be used for family trips or if you need to carry the limited amount of cargo. Minivans lack the posh and luxury inside the cabin. Also, crossovers and SUVs are faster, more reliable vehicles. The future of MPVs is not so certain. But, the new generation of Odyssey continues with 2020 season facelift.

2020 Honda Odyssey Changes

The amount of changes on the 2020 Honda Odyssey is not going to be huge. The company launched the latest generation in 2018. However, the major addition could be a hybrid engine. Most of its competitors will do it in 2019. However, the Odyssey is late because of the new generation launched in 2018. Besides that, the minivan will come with only cosmetic changes outside and inside.

2020 Honda Odyssey Competition

As we said, there are no many true competitors in the MPV class. Buyers in the US usually choose between home-grown Chrysler Pacifica or Dodge Grand Caravan. The first one is probably the #1 model with a hybrid engine already in the lineup. Besides these two, the 2020 Honda Odyssey will see a Toyota Sienna as probably the main rival. Finally, all of these vehicles are aware of the breakthrough of Kia Sedona. The Korean carmaker is about to launch its minivan with a hybrid drivetrain and with more affordable price than its rivals.

2020 Honda Odyssey Specs

The 2020 Honda Odyssey will use the same engine as before. As all its rivals, the minivan gets the power from a V-6 engine. For Odyssey, that is a 3.5-liter displacement. It is capable to deliver 280 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque. The same unit is powering the mid-size three-row Pilot SUV.

Buyers will choose between nine- and ten-speed automatic transmissions. The first one is available at lower trims. Elite and Touring versions are taking benefits of the newer gearbox. One of them is better towing capacity which is 3,500 pounds. That is 500 lbs more than a 9-speed transmission and models using it can do.

2020 Honda Odyssey Trim Levels

The entry-level 2020 Honda Odyssey will be an LX with the base offer. Already next trim level will come up with more features that will make a ride easier, both for driver and passengers. The first notable infotainment upgrade comes with an EX-L model. Navigation and rear-seas entertaining system are standard here. However, the most exciting versions are Touring and Elite. The first trim level adds sensors for parking, and for the 2020 Odyssey, a sort of autopilot could be available. It will still lack some premium features compared to an Elite minivan. Premium audio system and extra accessories for seats are standard for top of the class model.
