Civic is one of the longest-serving Honda cars. The first generation was launched back in 1972. Civic had an immediate success and it continues to impress even in its tenth generation. Started in 2016, it is time for a facelift. Besides hatchback and sedan, the 2020 Honda Civic Coupe will also present changes and updates. More aggressive appearance is going to draw attention more than its siblings. Whatsoever, the interior will be pretty much the same for the entire Civic squad.
The 2020 Honda Civic Coupe might be the most exciting model. It is eye-catching and aggressive. This should lure the younger population in the upcoming season. Furthermore, youth is not going to feel sorry if they pick 2020 Civic Coupe because the interior is integrating the latest features and systems. Various motors and trim levels improve the offer, so buyers can tune their Civic according to their preferences. Few new colors will definitely make everything fresh.
2020 Honda Civic Coupe Drivetrains
Under the hood of the 2020 Honda Civic Coupe, we can find few options. The base model of the coupe version is getting the power from a 2.0-liter inline-four engine. This is the same unit that is under the bonnet of the current Civic. This engine is available for all body types as the part of a standard offer. The drivetrain is capable to produce 160 horses and 140 lb-ft of torque. An automatic gearbox will return better mileage in urban areas – 30 mpg. A six-speed manual transmission drops the rate to 28 mpg. For highways, the gas mileage is the same – 39 mpg.
The other possibility lays in the turbo-four unit. A 1.5-liter mill can produce 175 hp. For some other versions, it is tuned to create 180 horses. Furthermore, the engine creates 162 lb-ft of torque. Again, Sport hatchback models gain 5 pound-feet more. A smaller, turbo version is more potent and fuel-friendlier than the base option. However, models with this engine will cost more.
2020 Honda Civic Coupe Si
Top of the trim level 2020 Honda Civic Coupe Si version comes with the same 1.5-liter turbo-four unit. However, for this model, the engine will deliver 205 hp and 192 lb-ft of torque. Well, the thing is the Si Coupe car is not offering an automatic transmission.
Besides mechanical updates, the 2020 Honda Civic Coupe Si will also have an edgier look. Similar outlines we could see before, but for the next model, designers will prepare new shapes and curves. Interior is also under reconstruction for the performance-oriented car.
2020 Honda Civic Coupe Type R
The Si model might be the best in the Civic Coupe lineup, but that spot belongs to Type R for some Honda’s vehicles. Unfortunately, we couldn’t see it for coupe version, but only for the hatch. The 2020 Honda Civic Coupe Type R could be a surprise of the next season, though. Some leaking information is whispering about this model, but nothing is official yet. If this happens, fans of the car should prepare for another dimension of sporty appearance and performance. A 2.0-liter turbo-four engine will be part of the update with 305 horsepower.
2020 Honda Civic Coupe Release Date and Price
The 2020 Honda Civic Coupe will come with the rest of the lineup. There we can expect the Si version, but not the Type R. The last one would be the highlight of the season and the company could organize a separate event for its premiere. All this should happen late in 2019.
The pricing will start at $20,000. It is about $500 more than the base sedan model and $1,000 less than the hatchback. The sporty Si trim level goes above $25,000. If the Type R variant of the 2020 Honda Civic Coupe appears it will definitely cost over $35,000.
