For now, exact details about engine for 2017 Honda Odyssey are still unknown. Although new model is coming with new platform, it is expected that current engine will carry over. It is a 3.5 V6 unit, which is good for around 250 horsepower. However, some improvements both in terms of power and economy are expected. When it is about transmission, current-generation model recently received 6-speed automatic instead of old 5-speed gearbox. So, changes in this aspect are not expected, at least until mid-cycle refresh.  There are also rumors that 2017 Odyssey could come with AWD configuration

I have a 2001 Odyssey which has served me well for 190,000 miles after replacing the very weak stock rear suspension coils with new variable rate coils. I admit fuel mileage has increased by 2 mpg, but fail to see much in the way of positive changes in the 2016 model over the 2001. Honda has in my opinion downgraded the exterior design (reminds me of a funeral hearse),lowered ground clearance that grinds curbs with the front plastic and cannot get over a 5 inch snow bank at the end of a driveway, and last of all has a rear suspension that radically alters rear tire camber with a minimal load.It would seem that Honda is more interested in being stylish than making improvements in utility and practical function.
