2017 Honda Africa Twin

Honda is preparing new dirt-bike lineup for 2017 season. Last Motor show in Tokyo revealed few machines which are to come. Among others, there is 2017 Honda Africa Twin. This motorcycle is based on the CRF250L model. However, many upgrades are done, and some are still to be used. Nevertheless, new Africa Twin is going to be exciting and popular as its predecessors. Confident is coming from various features announced for this bike. Many new patents will definitely upgrade the offer.

During 2015 at Tokyo Motor show we saw a concept that could be platform for upcoming 2017 Honda Africa Twin. Then, it was just idea, which is about to be realized next year. Japanese company didn’t save on it. Modern features and improved drivetrain are prepared. The most interesting fact about 2017 Africa Twin is dual fuel tank system. There is standard tank in the place we already expect it to be. However, bike offer additional, rear tank for fuel. With it, range of the Africa Twin motorcycle extends. This is major addition to the off-road machine.

New bike will use old engine. It is 998cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin unit with 270 degree crank. Bore and stroke of this 4-stroke Unicam drivetrain are set at 92mm x 75mm. Engine is paired with 6-speed manual transmission. There is also adjustable torque control system with 3 levels. Switching off the feature is also an option for rider. By changing cooling system, 2017 Honda Africa Twin can perform much better than before. It is excellent for long distance adventures. For higher mileage, additional fuel tank is positioned under the rear frame. Furthermore, electronics are tuned and hidden on safe place from heating and hits.

As its predecessor, 2017 Honda Africa Twin will be available in two trims, with or without DCT system. Cheaper version could be slightly more expensive from current $13,000 tag. Finally, higher trim costs around $700 more. There are some other options which are charged additionally, such as DCT foot shifter or heated grips.
