The 2016 Honda Brio will continue to be one of the leaders in South East Asia, when it is about small city cars. This subcompact hatchback is in production since 2011. Although it was planned to be launched in 2010, its release was delayed for a year, because of earthquake and tsunamis. Finally, it came in the fall of 2011. It instantly became one of the most popular cars in the segment. After several years of production, 2016 Honda Brio will come slightly modified. We will see some smaller improvements, but base design will remain unchanged.

This small hatchback was developed by Honda’s special South Eastern Asia division. It designed for those markets. Main markets for this model are countries like India, Indonesia and Philippines. Over 80 percent of its parts is sourced from Indian companies. It comes with nice design, and according to some reports, 2016 Honda Brio could come with some improvements. Those reports are still unconfirmed. We still don’t know what to expect, what kind of modifications. However, main changes will probably be visual. We will see some smaller tweaks, primarily at the front. Headlights, grille and some parts of the front fascia could be modified. However, don’t expect anything bigger than some minor tweaks.

When it is about engines, thing will remain unchanged. The 2016 Honda Brio will be available with two engines. Base unit is 1.2 liter I-4 engine, which is good enough for about 85 horsepower. This engine comes paired with either 5-speed automatic or CVT. Another engine is offered for Thailand version of this hatchback. It is quite bigger, with displacement of 1.3 liters. Total output is 98 horsepower and 94 pound-feet of torque. This engine is also available with 5-speed automatic gearbox.

The 2016 Honda Brio will come very soon, by the end of year. Price will remain unchanged. When it is about competition, main rivals will be models like Suzuki Swift, Nissan Micra, Hyundai i10 etc.
